COIMBATORE: Most of the infrastructure development and city beautification works related to the World Classical Tamil Conference to be held here from June 23 to 27 have been completed, Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said here on Tuesday.

Inaugurating a bus stand and a drinking water scheme, Mr. Stalin told reporters that 85 per cent to 90 per cent of the works had been completed and the rest would be over in two or three days. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi might arrive in Coimbatore on June 20 for the conference.

As for the 40 floats showcasing the history and culture of the State and the development of Tamil language, Mr. Stalin said these would remain on display as an exhibition for a week after the conference.

The floats would be taken out in a procession titled ‘Iniyavai Naarpathu’ on June 23, the inaugural day of the conference. He also reviewed conference-related works.
