World Classical Tamil Conference propaganda vehicle flagged off

KARUR: Collector J. Uma Maheswari flagged off the World Classical Tamil meet special propaganda vehicle that commenced its three-day tour of Karur district on Monday.

The vehicle would tour various places in the district to create awareness among the public on the several aspects and significance of the World Classical Tamil Meet to be held in Coimbatore between June 23 and 27.

The Department of Information and Public Relations has arranged the tour of the propaganda vehicle.

The vehicle, adorned with a large logo of the meet, would have a sound and light show encapsulating the theme song penned by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and with the music scored by A.R. Rahman.

The propaganda vehicle commenced its journey from Nagappattinam district and has since toured Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Tiruchi, Ariyalur and Perambalur districts before reaching Karur.

District Revenue Officer C. Munirathinam, DMK district organizer Nanniyur G. Rajendran, Krishnarayapuram MLA P. Kamaraj, District Panchayat Chairperson Poovai Ramesh Babu, Karur Municipality chairperson P. Sivakamasundari, were present on the occasion.

Thanjavur

Students of Pattukottai campus of the Anna University, Tiruchi, participated in a marathon race to create awareness about the World Classical Tamil Conference to be held at Coimbatore from June 23 to 27, here on Sunday. S. S. Palani Manickam, Union Minister of State for Finance, flagged off the race from Sivaganga park. M. S. Shanmugham, Collector, K. Rukmani, Vice-Chancellor (in charge), Anna University- Tiruchi, J. Raja, Registrar (in charge), Tiruchi, M. Madankumar, Special Officer, Anna University, Tiruchi participated in the function.

The students ran via West Main Street, South Main Street, Kondirajapalayam, Government Tourist Bungalow, Head Post Office and concluded at Railway Station. Students shouted slogans like “Semmozhi Thamizh Vazhga” and “Annai Thamizhai Kappom.”
