Relay run for World Classical Tamil meet commences

TIRUCHI: Bharathidasan University will carry out the relay run for the World Classical Tamil Conference with torches along two routes in its jurisdiction.

The run along route one commenced on Thursday at Thirukkuvalai, the birth place of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

The relay run with torch passed through Thirunellikaval, Thiruvarur and Needamangalam before reaching Thanjavur for an overnight halt.

On June 18, the relay run will resume and cross Thiruvaiyaru, Thirumaanur, Keelapalur, Ariyalur, Kunnam, to reach Perambalur where the team will halt at the Srinivasan Arts College.

On the third day, the team of NSS volunteers will touch Venganur and Athur where the torch will be handed over to the team of Periyar University, Salem.

The run along the second route will commence at Pudukkottai on Friday.

The team of NSS volunteers will pass through Keeranur and then reach Bharathidasan University for the night halt.

On Saturday, the runners will take the route of No.1 Tollgate, Nochiyamm, Musiri and Thottiyam to reach Namakkal where they will hand over the torch to their counterparts of Periyar University, the Registrar of Bharathidasan University, T. Ramasamy, said in a press release.
